The Captain's Cry
Cries form a simple, earnest plea
From this vessel formed of earthen clay,
Seeking solace from the sea
Of trouble spawned as devils play.
From this vessel formed of earthen clay
Hope rises slowly to quench the squall,
Of trouble spawned as devils play
While gales strike the mast to make it fall.
Hope rises slowly to quench the squall
As a salty fountain bathes a weathered face,
While gales strike the mast to make it fall
And sails hang tattered in their place.
As a salty fountain bathes a weathered face
Bitterness rolls heavy upon the waves,
And sails hang tattered in their place
While many vessels sink into their graves.
Bitterness rolls heavy upon the waves
Seeking solace from the sea,
While many vessels sink into their graves,
Cries form a simple, earnest plea.
