The Butterfly
How merry seems the butterfly
Who flutters to and fro then floats
So aimlessly across the sky
In search of flowers nectar soaked.
How carefree seems this insect
Who does not question why
Nor cares much that his intellect
Is nothing as compared to mine.
Yes, at peace is the butterfly
And once man shared this peace
But answers to his questions why
Man seeks and will not cease.
And, as he solves these mysteries
Vast knowledge he unfolds
Along with that comes the miseries
Of still more answers yet untold.
I know now why Adam and Eve
Were so precious in God's eye
For in them God had found a need
As now, I need the butterfly.
