The Bracelet

A dove of white a drift in the endless night sky Glides its wings through a chilly breeze of sadness Below its heart sits a man whose eyes long for pain But collect no salty tears, they remain desert dry His hand slumped aside, half covered by thirsty sleeve Slowly caresses a thin and humbly decorated bracelet As his heart nurses his brain with chilly blood His chest sinks with a regretful sigh, "I had to leave" His mind simmers over the forked flames of the past Her dauntless eyes glowed in silky shades of brown His loving toils bloomed in her perfect smile And he was with her at long last But in that moment, in each other's grip He knew that the night was final All that was left was a tragic fare the well In the darkness, his were the only tears to drip Now with the memories whose clarity have faded He can't quite recapture the beautiful feelings felt The bracelet is all he has to remind him of the night With no other in his history he would have traded

You write from such seeming deep pain ... and yet with such respectful distance from it ... you chronicle all we are in verbs. I am always glad for your genius and your friendship, and thank you for reading my write ... and showing your love in your comments. Happy holidays with love.
