The Boy Who Became King

Trained to look after sheep in the hills of Bethlehem this shepherd boy had a destiny a kingship indeed a crème de la crème David was his name he was indeed God's anointed chosen to be king as indeed pointing to God's greater head He took on the giant Goliath with just three smooth stones one stone struck the giant dead now the enemy was dead bones But king Saul was not impressed David was more popular than he as Saul plotted to kill David Saul's son Jonathan was the key Jonathan and David were real friends sticking closer than a brother Jonathan gave David warning of the real threat of his father So David fled from his threat having God's presence within for Saul's days were numbered as God remembered his sin David lamented and mourned over the deaths of Jonathan and Saul one a true friend another his enemy but the mighty did indeed fall David became King of Israel administering justice and equity reigning for 40 years from Jerusalem God's holy city This king had reached great heights but then he had a great fall lured by the beauty of Barsheba succumbing to sins sensual wall As Barsheba announced her pregnancy David planned her husband's murder this indeed a double sin becoming David's greatest blunder Nathan then rebuked David with the Lord's penetrating sword piercing the king's heart as David confessed I have sinned against the Lord King David's reign was a life with God's presence not being just a part but being ever with the one who was a man after God's own heart poetgord@2013
