The Blues
A friend recently said to me
I have everything I could desire
a good man, great kids and a lovely house.
Most would look at me in envy for all I have.
Yet for all this I am often in the dumps,
for no reason that I can fathom.
I should be bubbling with joy
and most of the time I am.
Even so a dark cloud descends
and I am swept away by it.
Swallowed up whole by it
hours of floods of tears.
There is no rhyme or reason
she said, I go from happy
to being in near despair
then back again once more.
