The Bittersweet Kind
The Bittersweet Kind
By Laura Dee Battle
December 30, 2014
I live inside these made-up scenes
Between the seams of all your dreams
I'll never exist in jack and Jill's tryst
Kisses like ghosts, contained in the mist
I'm missing it all; the writing on the wall
Echoes of smiles from just down the hall
I cannot exist in jack and Jill's kiss
Lovers like diamonds lost in the abyss
No reality remains for my wandering heart
My mind full of smoke from fires I'll start
Is there still a prayer for wandering souls;
The ones who are lost in the land of the cold?
I'm hopeful that I will start loving my life
Without racing back to the blades of a knife
One day I will live every dream in my mind
Hoping to find a sign of the bittersweet kind
