The Bird Who Wanted To Die
Once I knew a bird
Who looked right
In my eyes
"Oh Human won't you take my life", said He
"For I really want to die."
"My Mate and fledglings are no more,
They left this world in peace."
"They will no longer sing or fly or sit up in
The trees."
I looked at the poor sad bird as the tears
Streamed down my face, for the only kind
Thing I could do for him was to send him
From this place.
He closed his eyes as I blanketed him within
My shirt
Than I placed him in the ground and
Covered his frail body with dirt
For now my heart felt heavy
And I felt a sickness deep inside
But I knew there was a better place
For The Bird Who Wanted To Die.
