The Bird Who Wanted To Die

Once I knew a bird Who looked right In my eyes "Oh Human won't you take my life", said He "For I really want to die." "My Mate and fledglings are no more, They left this world in peace." "They will no longer sing or fly or sit up in The trees." I looked at the poor sad bird as the tears Streamed down my face, for the only kind Thing I could do for him was to send him From this place. He closed his eyes as I blanketed him within My shirt Than I placed him in the ground and Covered his frail body with dirt For now my heart felt heavy And I felt a sickness deep inside But I knew there was a better place For The Bird Who Wanted To Die.

Another outstanding piece of poetry... dreadfully sad, and yet there is redemption in the fact you gave the bird what he really wanted, despite your heavy heart. Well done Kelli! Best wishes, Keith

I sometimes wander if this is how birds feel like geese who only mate once in a lifetime
