The Best of You
What do you do?
When your best isn’t good enough
Where do you hide?
When you’ve stretched yourself
To very limit of endurance
When you’ve poured out your love
To the very last drop
When you’ve sacrificed
To within a breath of your life
Where do you go?
How can you live?
How can you feel?
When the best that you have
Is just not good enough
To make him love you
Where do you go?
Where do you hide?
When your most precious gifts
Are left unopened
The receiver convinced
That they’re just not good enough
To meet his needs
Gratify his desires
Fill his hunger
Thrill his mind
Where do you go?
Where do you hide?
When you no longer have
Anything to give
Because the best of YOU
Just wasn’t good enough
For HIM.
