The Bells of Loschwitz Church

Old Church bells Back home knell time And childhood memories. Deep slow tolls count out three o’clock, Comforting presence as I lie sleepless, Wondering: how many more times I’ll sleep Here

Love your poem and love bells. Our church has bells but they have been long silenced by neighbors who do not want to be waked on Sunday morning.

Thanks, Connie. I love hearing the bells whan I am back home. The church is a quarter mile from my parents' home, as the crow flies.

wow, I LOVE how you ended this one!!! It reminisces like mine did! By the way, loved your comment to me about my titles. Yes, I had at least ten other titles I could have fit into my poem but I had to leave them out!

This poem brings back so many memories from my youth. There was a church in town, that had actual bells and nothing can duplicate that sound. Thank you for the memories, Mrs Agnes. I was completely lost in thought at the end:)

memories of home can be a comfort, I know where I live now I never hear a church bell, and I live close to a church..

Back home, they chime the hours. One chime for quarter hour, two for half, four for the full hour and then the otehr bell chimes the number of hours. I have never heard this in any place in the US where I lived.
