The Bassist
essential to most bands
of all shapes & sizes,
never goes without a gig
in the city because s/he’s
known for having a small
ego, being calm & collected
for the most part &
yet so vital for the rumble
below the riffs, for the
funk just under the skin
of the gnashing peaks &
valleys of distortion or
clean jinga jingas on the
acoustics, can be the
pacemaker of a good
reggae song or the
minimalistic industrial
impetus---giving all
from country to
dubstep that perfectly
needed spice to
create a sound that
fills all the space &
can practice with the
primary songwriter
without dragging round
much of anything besides
the axe itself.
