The Ballet Life

*** THE BALLET LIFE *** Compounding, Ballet grows within Deeply sculpting over the lengths Of muscles, nerves and arteries, With the heart and mind, so The dancer’s developed love For ballet never dies Nor ever weakens — Those edifying arms and legs Flowing streams of beauty That lithely unite to Lift music To sublime dimensions In combinations of elegance For the eyes For sights Well beyond mere envisioning Or imagined choreographies Of daydreams — Like picturing Swaying leaves on Summertime’s dancing trees…But There is much more. Ballet displays the possibilities Of striving for higher goals; Of ever working toward the heights Of expression and agility’s perfection In motions In rythms In physical, lyrical grace Joined to creation By committment — devotion — Breathing into music’s scores Yearning To become essence, and excellence, Accepting the never-leaving, No ending Spirit of ballet, Which stays once it’s melded within And Magnifying, Never dies… (Dedicated nto all those who have held the thought, “I will dance til I die.”) ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— (c) sally young eslinger 2/4-5/23 Thanks be to God…

Actually, i was listening to “Swan Lake” as i wrote this and it poured out, after which i had — like a ballet class’ master — to take over. In dance every class move is stepped by x3 or 1-2-3-4. Perhaps the poetry too kept its flowing? Thanks for the supreme note of comment! God bless you! sally

Vijay thank you for your high comment. After i could no longer perform, intook up teaching and choreography. I was one of those kids who swore “i will dance til i die.” Now, unable to walk, i dance through word combinations & have actually done the porte de bras arm exercises while asleep, dreaming i was teaching! MGod be with U! sally

Oh, yes, Victor, didn’t you know? I began ballet classes at age 8 and concluded before going to college with taking classes at the NY C Metropolitan Opera School of Bzllet, anesteemed honor & blessing. Had i been born with better arches, i’d have gone pro.
