The Back Lot
Can you come out and play today?
For we are older now and need not fear if we fall in the water.
For no one would dare to say a word
Should we come home with mud in our hair.
Let us once more evade the monsters
And dance through the meadows with the glimmering fairies.
In the lovely world we used to dwell in.
Where the clouds turn to spaceships
And distant travelers come to walk our world with us.
It has been so long since we have spoken
To giant beetles and magic fish.
Let us visit the dam and the old wishing tree
And perhaps, for a moment, see never never land again.
