The Awakening
The sun rises on the first day
Waves crash on the shore in a beautiful display
Plant life spreading in a widening sprawl
Animals of all kinds, swim, fly, creep and crawl
Man draws his breath for the very first time
His mark on the world so soon defined
Fire is discovered, tools and the wheel
Technology takes off and continues to build
Bows and arrows, spears and the axe
Weapons of war, man on attack
Gunpowder, muskets and cannons do sing
Ships take to sail, man takes to wing
Wars and death, destruction and loss
Technology comes at a terrible cost
Machines evolve and think like a man
Knowing things we cannot understand
Soon robots and machines become our gods
Man no longer has reason or conscious thought
Soon we will fade into the recesses of time
No longer needed in a world so unkind
