The Aqua Rose

Deep in the Caribbean coral reef; A bright blue rose, one salted leaf. The stem has strength of ancient gods. The roots of time have not withered Her petals of truth grow strong with age Her story unfolds from a watery cage Her stamen: the history of man. I knew her well, Aqua, my wife. No longer seen with mortal eye, You don't hear her sobs: her cry No sweet hello's, no fond good-bye. Memories of undying love. Floating serenely in waters blue The hottest sunshine filtered through. The Aqua Rose is my love true. Her watery grave shall be redeemed. Long before Aqua was a rose; She was innocence, personified She was mine and I was hers Soon we shall share Eternity. Inspired by Catie Lindsey's Contest " Tending the Sprouts " My First POEM Dedicated to my Beloved L E N O R E "Aqua Rose" was Written August 29, 1971 4 days After LENORE left me for "Glory" Inspired by the Contest "Why oh Why?" Sponsored By "Constance~A Rambling Poet" In Lovig Memory of My Beloved Wife "Lenore Ellen (Adams) Johnson" From the Heart of "Harry Daniel Johnson" - AKA - HGarvey Daniel Esquire

Wow! You've written and shared so many poems while your very first one was already a masterpiece. I just read through it and i was left with just one word, wow! over and over, wow! I love your choice of words and the metaphors but what i love most was the emotion and how you voiced them out, I may have literally heard it, that's how powerful it was for me. You and your poem are very inspiring...

This is a lovely poem. It sounds like a poem that should already be in one of those old dusty books in the library. Those beautiful poems that sometimes the world forgets. Congratulations on getting a win with this dedication to your wife.

Just read two poems remind me of Titanic. Great movie, though tragic. I have a Celine Dion CD with one of the songs. I wrote an end line poem about her recently. Good poems. Ellen

those words sound wonderful, just the sound of it, a watery cage.i like it. The Aqua Rose, with your idea of using the open water to describe Lenore, is so CREATIVE, this is a W-I-N-N-E-R. HG[Harry], I want you to be my poetic brother again.lol i honestly feel you are there, in that place.Strongly. even though we will always be through our spirits.(: I am glad, I finally gave you an idea on the poem you are writing with what i said. much love to you. -Always&Forever Lynn

Is your wife still alive, Daniel?(or do I call you Harvey? ) sorry, I don't even know. I had thought from something you said earlier that she was alive, but this makes her sound like she has passed on. This poem is PRECIOUS. I love the personification of the rose. How strange you chose blue rose. That is the flower i too relate my own self to!! Luv, andrea
