The Angry Earth
Every tree and grass once dry and needy
Now drowning in the lawns and streets
The back yard a pond
More and more on the way
We have made Mother Earth
Sad and angry
The stars hidden in the clouds
The electricity and the heater off
Blankets, shawls and candles
Body to body, dogs in the bed
Medicines and food put away today
A reminder of the old days
Without a fireplace
Harsh times ahead
And I think of the homeless
Without a room perhaps a tent
So much mankind and wildlife suffering
A quiet moment and a prayer
