Winter has cast its strangling hold inside and outside. The joys I have known are gone. Cold winds blow bleak and harsh. The flowers in my garden have wilted and withered. All things sweet have passed and flown away. Flakes of snow, layer on layer, lie piled within, And harden as rocks with worms of fear inching their way, To eat away all the delicate buds of hope. Spring, Oh! Spring grace me with your regal smile, Brightening my sky with constellations of stars. Crash down the walls that segregate, leaving me a fugitive, And pour love's balm into my bruised soul. Possess me as an unseen benevolent spirit, Thawing the frozen interiors with your warm sunshine!

Crash down the walls that segregate, leaving me a fugitive, And pour love's balm into my bruised soul. Possess me as an unseen benevolent spirit, Thawing the frozen interiors with your warm sunshine!.. love that ending to your poem... we all want to be warm and around the sun...

Wow if this isnt perfection I dunno wat is. This made me feel so much. How descriptive are you dear valsa, your way with with weaving imagery is so very creative. I love the flow too. In the first stanza i can see a winter garden as you wrote “ Flakes of snow, layer on layer, lie piled within,“ just stunning! I think silent one will love that. And the ending too ah i love “ And pour love's balm into my bruised soul.“ so soulfully moving and touching the way you’ve expressed in such cadence. FAVE

I can feel the winter chill in your verse Valsa, and a longing for springs return. Wind and rain here at the moment hope you're having better weather. Good luck in the contest. Tom
