It’s a sound that can’t be spelt A sound not uttered by the svelte A sound like when your grandpa knelt It’s worse with every year you’re dealt A sound made rising from a chair When pulling up your underwear When climbing each successive stair A sound devoid of savoir faire This sound made by the elderly Is commonplace; apparently But lately this sound seems to be A sound that emanates from me!

True! And what does the sound achieve, or is it tension relief like the tennis grunt. It's also funny when a small child imitates granny (me).

I think it becomes a habit, Jeanette. Doubt it provides any level of pain relief. Thanks for dropping by. Terry

clever and witty poem, Terry. A delightfully hilarious take for the contest. Your words made me smile, for I'm one of those 'elderly' folks who is sometimes plagued with that commonplace sound. Well done & best wishes with the contest. Have a splendid evening, Sara

Thanks, Sara. Not for contest but based on a poem by our friend Gershon Wolf. Glad you enjoyed. Terry
