That Night They Danced

She holds the blood from her mouth She cries in tears that never save Her body a punching bag of his The normal day of her normal life She holds the blood from her bleeding mouth Another tooth knocked out The very vow destroying A curse of the words meant to be Through the blood she remembers that night when they danced The whole night it was, a year ago it was Stricken and pale She wipes the blood Grabs the hidden ticket Walks past his drunk body on the floor and closes the door behind her

Hey Njeri, stopped by for a visit. Oh my, this is a deeply sad and terrifying situation to be in. The pain and heartbreak, the lost love, and sweet memories turned into regret. Excellent writing and expression my friend. Be Blessed, Neva
