That Ladder
That Ladder
Being at the foot of the ladder
Has many meanings for us all
At the bottom you look to where you want to be
To see the world as you would like
With that smile of hope and glee in place
You are at the bottom of that ladder
Hoping to climb it to your best
One rung at a time till you reach the top
Where one day you hope to be
Always smiling from the bottom
As you succeed with each step
Or holding on for someone to climb
To keep them safe from harm
Whilst doing the job that must be done
Or holding the hand of a little one to climb
So they can reach the top to have their slide
They so very much desire that downward glide
