That Groundhog
She's gotten big and burly,
all stuffing and no fluff
taken all the veggie garden early
as if that weren't enough;
gingerly she rises up bird feeders
awkwardly but stealthy to climb
the young cherry trunk , no speedster
she settles in to eat her finds.
Birds and squirrels simply watch
silently waiting their turn
as she drops like sasquatch
having satisfied her yearn.
A scan right then left she spies
another tantalizing tasty snack
as suddenly she catches my dog's eyes
and that ball of fur runs away only later to come back.
