Thank You Sir

I saw a famous person walking alone on a city street. He was about 25 feet away when I spotted him. I said, "Hi John, So nice to meet you. My son will be happy to know that I met you". He said to me, "Come walk with me". So, I walked a few feet with him until I realized that I was on my job and had important packages to deliver. It never crossed my mind to ask for an autograph, and I'm pleased that I didn't. I think that he was disappointed that I could not walk with him. I have often wished that I had the time to talk with John. Perhaps he needed someone like me, someone more interested in him than in his fame, to talk to or even a stranger to listen to. Chances are great that he has forgotten about that morning when he met a commoner on a city street. Or, maybe it was also a moment He will never forget. However, I never forgot those brief moments with John. At the time, I had little respect for him because of the attitude he portrayed on television. But on that morning, He addressed me with sincere respect when he said to me, "Thank you, sir". I must say, that was an encounter that I never forgot, and from that moment on, my thoughts regarding him changed. Yes, I met a famous man who wanted to talk with a non-famous stranger who was busy at work delivering time-sensitive packages. 010924PS
