Thank You For My Father
Thank You for My Father

Thank you God for giving me
The father that you did
I think of him in my old age
Unlike when I was a kid
The many things he taught me
Have made me who I am today
I really like the one I am
Can't think of any other way
I Believe in God and Jesus
Think of my fellow man
Give of myself to others
Almost every chance I can
Try not to think I'm better
Than any race or creed
Earn my money fairly
Do not cheat to aid my greed
Can build a house repair a car
And fix the kitchen sink
Treat others as I would myself
Think those who don't just stink
Lost him in June of sixty-four
The month I graduated school
The lessons that I learned from him
Still guide me and still rule
So God I know you're watching
As I write this poem today
Please pass along to Daddy
These few words I've had to say
