Thank You For Fighting For My Freedom

You fought over the smallest of sand For my country in a foreign land Advance all the time and never retreat USA is number one and can never be beat The military taught you how to survive I hope you can make it home alive When everything is all said and done You fought with your life for my freedom Thank you for fighting for me Now I know freedom doesn’t come free What you did for America makes me feel over come Thank you for fighting for my freedom Remember them for the blood the gave To make America home of the brave Army Navy Air force Marine Toughest old boys you’ve ever seen Hopefully they’ll get back to those crying mothers They will be alright with they’re band of brothers When everything is all said and done You fought with your life for my freedom Thank you for fighting for me Now I know freedom doesn’t come free What you did for America makes me feel over come Thank you for fighting for my freedom They sent them to the school of hard knox Now they’re coming home in a pine box Zipped up in a in a bag They gave they’re family a flag and a dog tag Remember them when you pray Stand tall for them and remember them on Memorial Day

Kevin, Such a patriotic poem and so well written. You are a patriotic American and I hope this one will get some exposure this year during the 4th of July poetry season...I read PD's comments below and that note also floored me...wow! Even her brother died for our freedom! Thanks for writing this one, Kevin. Oh, BTW, I actually was searching to see if you could have written an acrostic poem for this site...okay...give one a try! Have a great one! :) Gwendolen

Thanks Gwen for your comments. I'll give it a try. I think I have only written one acrostic poem.

Clark, this is an honor to read your poem. Some times one can not be as brave as you or this poem... When my brother had to fight for America.. i did not know where to run.. I would crawl on my knees in hope he would have a safe return.. Sadly he gave and paid our freedom with his blood... and a dog tag and flag is what our family carries now... A blessing poem, thanks for sharing,.. Linda
