Tentacles of My Heart

Tentacles Of My Heart Sweet tentacles of my heart When will you send your best? Where will you begin to start. Your memories sear my mind, Never could you yield treasures false in light Or hope impossible to find. Feelings set in high praise, love deep in its birth touch forever to keep gifts with eternal worth. Robert J. Lindley , 10-11-2014 Note: rewrite of a much longer poem I wrote as a young man.. A heart once searched for its place got lost in life's race, Found another sweet destination, from hope's greatest inspiration.

Lovely write, Robert. Someone those old loves still peek into our hearts now and then...whether they live or not...memories remain. I read the comments below...Interesting, indeed.

I loved the poem and so appreciate you sharing the background on it, for me the sentimentality runs even deeper than the written word. It's like sharing in part the life of a friend. Blessings on you dear one and to your beautiful lady.

She kept the original and refused to ever give it back so I rewrote the poem a month after we broke up to put in my collection. Sadly she passed on back in 2006. I only found out 3 months after her death. Called, ask about the poem , her adult daughter(not mine) has it and says she wants to keep it. I told her thanks and I understand.

Thanks, maybe I should not have shortened it. I find myself now favoring shorter writes since I became more entranced with sonnets. However the longer version got a lot more graphic sexually as this was written and given to a girlfriend from thirty-six years ago.. I decided to cut out 22 lines.
