Tendin' Fence
When cares of the world are heavy
And your soul and body are tense,
You ride on out to the far line
And watch the sky as you tend fence.
Some might say you’re just killin’ time,
That you’re lazy and drawin’ pay—
But you know you’re doin’ your best,
To make it through another day.
They think you’re talkin’ to yourself
And that you’ve lost all of your sense—
But right now there’s no other place
You’d rather be than tendin’ fence.
When that day comes you’ll live no more
And you wait His magnificence—
You’ll ride for all eternity
For your new Boss just tendin’ fence.
