Ten Fingers and Ten Toes
Ten little fingers and ten little toes
A screwed up face, and a swollen nose.
This is their new bundle of joy,
Is it a girl or it is a boy?
Dad looks down, it’s I boy I can see.
And look at that he takes after me.
The nurse stands by smiling, as she writes her lines.
She’s heard these words so many times.
Mum’s exhausted with tears in her eyes
The pain forgotten she has her prize.
They lovingly wrap the little chap up,
With hugs and kisses and wishes of luck.
The first smile is not from their new baby boy
Its from the new parents sharing their joy.
