Temptation Calls

Ah, how temptation calls the heart to crack.. 'Just a little. Just to let a little light out, to shine on him..' 'Hey, no harm done when the room is dim, and the air is thin..' And the illusion of safety fills this vast space in between. We're both in need of something..  'Let a little love pour. Just a little..' But it's never 'just a little', is it? The more light pours out, the more he pours in, and the blood in my heart begins to thicken. And before I know it I'm stricken - love sick-ened.. He never asked for it. Neither of us asked for it.. I only want to share a little love.. But oh how it just is never simple enough.. So I guess I'll do my best to keep it locked up. Ahh, how temptation calls my heart to crack..

This is excellent both in carrying out your theme and in free style. Been using the topic of light myself frequently recently. Enjoyed your piece, Sara. A very late welcome to Poetry Soup; my maiden name was Jolly.

Hi, sorry it's taken me so long to see this, I've not been on here for ages.. Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I've never really been sure whether I like this poem or think it's bad, so it's nice to get some positive feedback on it, thank you. :) Ah, I wish my name really was Jolly. It's just my favourite word.. But I love that you really were a Jolly, thanks for sharing. :) Hehe. x
