Teluris

Illuminating the patio and lawn, the king star descended in beams of light, daring through the leaves of the vine. The little insects suddenly glowed, as if they were miniature lamps, blinking non-stop. In the morning heat, an unrecognizable cicada among the grass, performed a solitary opera. The sun advanced in the sky, the light focused more and more through the cracks left by the leaves of the vine, forming gold coins on the green carpeted floor. A dragonfly stopped in midair. went up, went down again and in an accelerated flight disappeared as it appeared: quickly, magically, happily.

My fascination with the dragonfly goes back a long way. Incredibly adept at flying, but this poem, for me, is about light...fireflies, "miniature lamps," the sun advancing in the sky, light focusing through cracks in the greenery. Your observations are precise, rewarding, as the last three words tell us.
