Tell Me
I am told
How can you believe
In someone you never see
In someone you never feel
In someone you never hear
How can you believe
In fairy tales
Based on abstract and surreal?
I will tell you
I do not need arm-twisting
Or hypnotic mind games
To reach my conclusions
It is not just blind faith
It is a simple matter
Of seeking with the heart
Not by going on e-bay.
I see God all around me
In the beauty of creation
In the joy and suffering of others
In the growth of a plant
The birth of a child
The change of night and day
The passage of time
I see him.
I feel him in moments of need
When weakness bears on me
When he raises me up
And lifts me from pain and despair
When I’m lost in darkness
And he sends a guiding light
I feel him walking by my side
I feel him.
I hear him when the wind blows
When a breeze caresses me
I hear him where silence reigns
Or where the waters lap
And gently tease my mind
I hear him.
Because my mind thinks
My heart feels
My soul flows with emotions
I believe in him.
But most of all I believe
Because on admitting my faults
I sense his healing hand
And I understand that God
Is there for me at all times.
I believe in Him.
