Teenage Love

I don't like teenage "love," Getting butterflies reading written words never spoken, obsessions with remembering favorite numbers and colors just to prove you are worthy in the eyes of another, late night phone calls only because you indulge in their voice so much that you spare your precious sleep. I don't like the idea of falling in love at such a young age, unbreakable "needs" to read or hear the words "I love you." I'm sorry, but all of this causes me to fray and become weary and sad and upset and.. I just can't do it, and if only you'd understand that I can't lay down my youth with fairy tales and wishful love, I just might be able to one day.
