Teasing Comb

I turn and hope to see her smirking by. Through the crowd she finds my eye. Excitement rushes into my mind. Conversations never spoken, Affection felt in a glance and sigh. Today she has assumed a new identity. Intellectual and sure, She peers into a world once blurred, Clear and reassured. To the sound of a familiar face, She looks in amazement. In his voice she finds comfort And in his face she finds reality. A flirtatious friendship, A Limit never reaching, In you I’ve found in no other. God save us from each other. Friends they come and go. But love we must to hold on to. If love you ever ask me, My one reply “Of course I do”. I know a time will someday come when all that’s left is me And the “Us” that I once hoped for, Sadly never came to be.
