Tears On the Wind
Do our tears evaporate
Or do angels carry them to heaven
My dress, I should think, they’d saturate
Yet not a single stain’s been given
But look, out there upon the sea
Fog seems to appear from nowhere
An ocean breeze carried tears away from me
I sit upon a sandy dune and stare
Hours pass and slowly the fog lifts
Suddenly, I, too, sense greater clarity
The sadness gone; my mood shifts
To one of deep serenity
Things that hurt, words that bite
Are washed from my memory
I’ll be able to sleep again tonight
And rise to greet the morning glory
Catharsis comes from tears on the wind
And once the pain has passed
I realize these tears came to be my friend
Dark hours are quenched at last
