Tears
TEARS
Tears as we tumble from the womb
And into the cold, cruel world
Already a sensing of longing
For the warmth and comfort left behind
The pattern is set for life's long struggle
As time slips through our hands like sand
It's only when pain pierces our soul
That we find out who we really are
Tears for goldfish flushed down the toilet,
For poor old grandma and her dodgy heart
So much agony to deal with
And your journey's only at a start
Next up is cupid and his mischief making
Teenage crushes cruelly crushed
By spiteful words and raging hormones
Then there's the pining
For a youth left behind
As you look in the mirror
And see an ageing man
Before you know it
There's a hospital bed
And the thought of a life wasted
Rips you apart inside
The waterworks come to an end
When your body gives up on its host
But the tears still flow at your funeral
As friends and family mourn their ghost
