Talking Eyes
If I told you that her eyes said it all,
what do you suppose her eyes really said?
Do you assume her eyes spoke to me of love,
or do you think they wished that I were dead?
Are you a romantic deep at heart
who assumes a flirtatious point of view;
or are you a true fatalist
who has given the evil eye yourself a time or two?
Did you immediately think it was a look of love
beckoning to her bed;
or was your thought it must be full of hate
from a spurned eye looking at me instead?
Well, since the look from those eyes
was intended directly for me,
I’ll keep the meaning behind the look
my own little mystery.
