Taking Assessment

I woke up in the early hours again, needing the loo as usual. On my third visit that night, I decided to make myself a brew. While waiting for the kettle, I stepped out onto the veranda. To the front there was no view, just a swirling mist. To the side, all of Paphos was laid out, like twinkling jewels. In our garden, I saw some flowers had closed up for the night, while others still gave us the delight of their magnificent colours. The pool water rippled in the slight breeze, it also twinkled. It was a moment, my sleep broken,I should have been annoyed. I wasn't. I felt so really blessed that I could witness the scene. Life has a sneaky way of creeping up and stealing our joy. Moments, like this veranda moment, bring things into relief. Our children had just visited, which was a welcome joy for us both. It is when they have to go home again that the joy stealer moves in. What with all the things happening in the world it is hard to find joy. No matter how hard we try, and when folk quote scripture, we fail. Time, whether we are here or not, will continue to pass. It is our duty to ourselves to make good use of it in "our" time. Realize what you "have" and monopolize it, Joy will follow. I love where I am at this moment,I can only live for this moment. I went to bed, light in heart and looked forward to a bright new day.
