Taken For Granted
If only I had known
how little time we had,
I would have surely shown
how much I was glad.
To have you for my mother
and to count you as a friend.
To know you as a teacher
of how to love and mend.
To see the many little ways
you brought joy to my life,
To know your strength and grace
in times of trouble and strife.
You did for me most everything,
I never gave it second thought,
For I took your love for granted
and never realized all I got.
