Sweetest Torture

The sweetest torture Is to walk within your circle of fire Being warmed Being charmed Yet knowing Knowing Your fire does not burn for me The sweetest torture Is feeling alive in the light of your eyes Being enlightened Being brightened Yet knowing Knowing Your light does not shine for me The sweetest torture Is hearing the symphony of your heart Being moved Being grooved Yet knowing Knowing Your heartbeat symphony is not for me The sweetest torture Is being in the proximity of your being Being enveloped Being developed Yet knowing Knowing Your omnipresence is not for me The sweetest torture Is hearing your declarations of love Being wooed Being soothed Yet knowing Knowing Your love is not meant for me The sweetest torture Is when YOU come to me Being bewitched Being enriched Yet not knowing Not knowing That my universe of love is for you Eileen Manassian Ghali The inspiration for the title of this poem is from this song, which is an all-time favorite of mine. Hi, Mattew...The song is by Dan Fogelberg....There are some songs that touch our lives forever...THIS is one of them. It brought my estrange boyfriend and I back together....I was crying in the car when this song was playing and he reached out to dry my tears and his voice melted in tenderness as he asked me what was wrong....He had gone with someone else...during the summer, and brought me pain...Anyway...the title of the song was the inspiration, not the song itself. Thanks for dropping by

The inspiration came from a song that brought my boyfriend and I back together after a split up. We were in the car, listening to music...this song came up, and I started to cry...He wiped my tears...we got back together...He is now my husband. Thanks for the visit, Lucilla...Love your posts.

I can relate, I loved a woman once and she chose another, still I longed to be in her presence. It was not meant to be but still I would not choose to erase the emotions I felt. They made me feel alive.

I thank you for your take on this, John. I really do...I can't make the change, because...as I said on the bottom of the poem, the inspiration for the title came from a song which means a great deal to me...I feel strongly about the wording...Thanks for caring enough to share your opinion....
