Surviving in the Post-Truth World

In the realm of post-truth and misinformation, We find ourselves adrift on a turbulent sea, Deceit's waves rise, falsehoods obscure the sun, Facts, like elusive phantoms, fade from view. This treacherous current, a serpent coiled, Around the pillars of reason, constricts our grasp, Threatening to engulf our collective thought, As we navigate murky waters of manipulation. The lighthouse of objective reality stands, Obscured by the fog of deceit, doubt's embrace, Sirens of disinformation sing beguiling songs, In this distorted reflection of truth, we dwell. We, the sailors of the digital age, must wield, The compass of critical thought to chart, A course toward distant shores of clarity, Across this tempestuous sea of ambiguity.

Hello Daniel, thanks for the visit in the comments. I I think all of us feel challenged in the world these days to find truth, that is our truth. Poetry brings the truth that we certainly can understand in this place. And for that, I am thankful. Best wishes, Don.

I loved the maritime, metaphorical nature of your poem! That is creative and adds depth and wisdom to your words. Your poem was filled with insights and wisdom for those of us who are 'navigating the tempestuous digital sea of disinformation.' I especially liked: Sirens of disinformation sing beguiling songs, In this distorted reflection of truth, we dwell." I just can't say enough about your creativity and your ability to write such meaningful but understandable poetry. Grateful. Sara

A wonderfully thought out metaphoric poem Don, using the maritime imagery as a backdrop for all the lies and disinformation works really well, after all untruths are as prevalent as the ocean itself, in this post truth world, I often wonder was there ever any real truth since we started walking upright, I’ve learned to question everything, a brilliant honest poem, so my gut is telling me, cheers David

Hi David, great observations about the poem. Yes, so much to the Maritime world. So much Poetry built into the Waves, the tug of the ocean floor, and how we all feel float. Best wishes, Don.
