Sunset Memory

As I stood atop a hill where water meets the sky I watched the sun descend and what wonder met my eyes The clouds bore through the horizon pouring splendour way up high Its brilliance was confirmed when I was joined by passers by We all stood there in silence and saw the peach, the gold the greys In awe we stood and with one glance we knew what each would say Waves smashed the rocks below us lights bounced between sky and the sea The cool breeze danced around my face for the briefest of moments it hypnotised me Its grandeur second to none with its beauty As far as the eyes can see Its vastness incomprehensible, yet there it was, in front of me The lights from the land burnt bright, as darkness Doused the lights from the sky and the sea the nights chill sets deep like the moments before thats my sunset memory James Mahauariki Copyright © 2009
