Sunset
I see pink lips that mark
Sun’s last kiss to the sky
They fade slower than a lover’s
But it is still goodbye.
One side of the house
Already in darkness waiting
As my light burns steady
For the end of day.
And as it glows flushed
I see my empty room
Thank my pen for its constant
Companionship.
Oh I wish I could describe
Hot passion laid outside
My window or flare your
Memory with half the same glare.
Yet watch it fades even now
Until night’s seductive fingers
Prise love’s fiery glow
From the sky’s forgetful breast
