Sunrise

As I sit here once again at my window, I close my eyes and imagine, That I’m sitting on a mountaintop, Watching the sunrise, And it is still dark at my window, But I can see those vibrant colors, Fading into the dark sky, Making it lighter; I can feel the stones beneath my body, And I see the valleys around me, And I feel the breeze, Cool and refreshing. The sunrise fills my mind, Its colors of gold and pink, It shines so brightly in my mind’s eye. It is so beautiful… I open my eyes, And stare out into the dark, Which is not really dark anymore, Because it is getting lighter; And the sun starts to rise, For real, not just in my mind, And again those colors fill my eyes, And fill me with peace. I look out at the mountains, And watch the sun peek out behind them, And I watch the golden and pink sunrise, Fill the sky once again.
