Summertime
Summertime Contest
Sponsor: Janis Thompson
Daylight savings peeked through the equinox,
The dog days have arrived with morning dew,
Sweet lil’ Ella playing in the sandbox,
West sets the orange sun, oh what a view.
A midsummer’s day holds beams of yellow,
While the midnight stars sprinkle good luck dust,
Campfire with s'mores, a yummy marshmallow,
Papa’s famous hamburgers, man I’m stuffed!
Fresh cut lilies placed gently at her grave,
Summertime was her adored time of year,
“I love you mamma”, out of chalk engraved,
Swimming pools cloaked with little neighbors near.
This season of warmth has been God given,
Oh, what a beautiful world we live in.
