Summer's End
Where did our warm and lovely summer go?
It seems just yesterday her days came slow.
We waited for our winter's frigid clime
to bow, give way to spring's rebirthing time.
With patient hearts, spring's May arrived in style
and surely made our summer wait worthwhile.
Now here is August at late summer's door
with faded greens and shorter days in store.
Trees soon will heed the fall's cool days and call
to spread her burnished red-gold colored shawl.
Why does our summertime go by so fast?
Long waited for, it never seems to last.
Within a wink, her days are gone and done,
to let new seasons follow rule of Sun.
