Summer Smiles

Summer Smiles It was our evening journey home I found her head upon my shoulder I felt her heart beat soft and warm The feeling grew inside to hold her Like two faces in a memory Bookends pressed against a dream Summer smiles to solve the mystery That has become the part of me We shared a laugh and then some tears We gathered dust that gave us life We slept in corners with our fears And left the future to decide Some are victors and some defeated Summer smiles with eyes of blue All my dreams have been depleted When once I dreamt of holding you Songs play melodies of life Rainbow portraits of our love Moons of harvest burning bright Wings of peace, the mourning dove Summer smiles and guides the way Across the miles she shines her star A heart of nature upon display She paints the perfect repertoire
