Summer Rain
All the complicated thoughts
on your face in the mirror,
their distortions whine
like a drooping branch in the wind,
while the drops of rain grow heavier,
louder,
against the bedroom window,
bringing life back to a raging drought,
preparing the grasses
and corn
to grow like the wind
into a wavelike climax
of late summer.
