Summer Evening

Ice cream in hand I let my hair fly in warm summer breeze It’s nine in the night The sun witnesses folks walking their dogs dads pushing strollers kids riding bikes or shooting hoops runners pushing hard neighborhoods abuzz with excited life Then I think the same hour in winter So dark and lonely with no signs of life And I walk some more Then sit in the porch to watch the sun set Written on:08/09/2016 Contest: Anacreontic Verse by Edward Ebbs
