Summer Comes With Snow

Affection's eyes beseech one glimpse of thee, To dream upon at midnight's slumbering Forbid, O' God, as woeful absence grows Whereon thy summer's sleep comes plagued of snow Doth thou hear thy name in restless night? Alas, please heed the song, devotion's call While kindled passion glows within mine heart In days disguise, the like to be so frail Thus moon hath wooed a starlit evening sky And I, with gladsome heart, wilt' fold my eyes If all of heaven knows, explain, pray tell How thee knows not, of what mine heart holds dear Within thy eyes, thou see'st not, of me Yet thee, upon first glance, mine own eyes rest Wilt find, my heart, transfixed by cupid's spell Not one lone star compares, without disgrace Each thistle, dulled, without a sharpened blade Where light has dimmed, lack luster in the sky The taint' I feel, from now upon your face Whence nary grace that cupid aims at me To see thee fair, with love's acquainted eyes And whence, this night a sun would choose to rise Tho' wrath of winter beats against our door I must beware that summer comes with snow For burns your eye, a deeper fire's glow Only beings half earth would dare to tame With ax and saw, wild apple trees to burn Nor spurn them not, but turn them into flame ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For Lisa's Contest: "Bringin' Out the Thees and Thous"

This one is utterly fantastic! These thees and thous really spark the imagination. A possible help for you would be to adopt these versions of the words: "Dost thou hear thy name in song...". I think it is more accurate to the historical language.
