Summer Bay
You used to wear white vans
With names scrawled
From your last day of school
You used to laugh
And crinkled up your nose
You and me
We used to own
Spiral tie dye magic
And I made you a swing
Hanging from the tree in your yard
We rode our bike through puddles
When it rained
And lived for the smell of the soaked earth
Laughed at the water droplets on our faces
We shared lives
And you took mine
When you said goodbye
And I tried to say hello
But you shut it out with your new friends
Adjusted your music
And walked away.
To the door of your red brick house.
You never looked back.
