Sugar Coated Lies

Should you believe whispered lies That my character malign… The gossip melts in your mouth With each sugar sprinkled line Should you doubt my innocence Spread rumors that are untrue You’ll stand at God’s tribunal And He'll make demands of you Still waters tend to run deep But those who erupt convey The truth that might bring a tear Their words have no shade of grey Innuendos poison life Twisted truth will tax the mind If you want to keep your friends Cover ears; turn a blind eye. Either way.....it's the greeting that counts. Had a busy day, Richard...Soon sleep will claim me. Busy with family...My brother-in-law is visiting from Canada. We had an outing and then a walk by the Sea...I felt a poem coming on....but...too tired tonight. Yes, lovely day! :)

"Twisted truth will tax the mind" very strong line. Nice poem with strong metaphoric expression.

JACK! Here is your dear face again! :) I LOVE it when you call me TEACH. :) My student from Brazil calls me "Teacher" and it makes me all warm inside. Glad you liked the grande finale. Always a pleasure...hugs!

Sad, yet very truthful. Friendships/relationship, matters of the heart, should never be so taxing & lacking of substance. Good call on this piece.

Yes, my dear Drake. Spot on. They shouldn't be, should they? I mean....that would sap all the energy and joy out. I always look forward to your visits, you know that, right? Thanks for stopping by....

Yea.....it is just devastating when that happens. I would hope that I would have the grace to be able to deal with it SHOULD it ever happen! Thanks for the visit, my dear....Hugs

I completely agree with this wise and well written advice. There are so many proverbs that address this exact theme in the Bible. My Dad has this saying "Empty Barrels make the most noise"-- love it!! Cute picture. is that your lovely daughter?

Hi, Kim...Yes...so much in the Bible on this topic. Not only in proverbs, but James speaks quite a bit about the power of the tongue to destroy. No...that is my darling niece, CHLOE! I changed my avatar to make people aware of little girls who might be in danger of FGM.....Thanks for stopping by, dear!

Good advice, yet people love to hear and spread gossip. A dangerous pass time.

Yes....social cannibalism it's called. :( I guess at some point we are all guilty....the sad part is, once someone's character has been maligned...nothing can make it better...even if proven innocent...those dark little doubts remain. Thanks for stopping by....
