Such a Long Time Ago
Such a Long Time Ago
Not only has my bright moon been blue
But I am also and through and through.
Have you seen a bright happy moon before?
Shining up and down some silent shore
And very dark as it does seem to sleep
Over a wavy ocean while wide and deep.
What really is it which will delight you so?
Perhaps perfect party thrown and can show
How deeply moving moon did love and enjoy
Could be like a giggling girl or a little boy.
Around gigantic moon was a glowing ring
It often reminded me of a certain thing
I once had lost meaning so much to me
Dearly departed sailor sailing out to sea.
Desperately on moon did see father's face
And over all of the years time and space
Father's face forgotten never would be
Had returned to heaven and soul set free.
In heaven, oh how I long to be there
And much sin and sadness have to bare
About some sailor not returning home again
Such a long time ago it really has been.
